What if I am out of state?
- Driver’s from out of state are not protected from license suspensions stemming from DWI or Refusal convictions in New Jersey. While New Jersey cannot revoke an out of state driver’s license, New Jersey will suspend that person’s privilege to drive in New Jersey. New Jersey will also notify the Department of Motor Vehicles in the driver’s home state of the suspension, and that state, in compliance with the Interstate Driver’s Compact, will suspend the driver’s license.
- Our law offices will defend people from other states if they are charged with a DUI/DWI in New Jersey. The lawyers will prepare your defense on any of these charges in order to protect your rights. They will inform you of the laws in the state and work toward the best possible outcome for you, as well as advising you of the consequences a conviction may have on you in your home state.
